B2B Trail Construction Updates

Zeeb Road to Delhi Metropark – This trail segment is the first of a two-part project that will extend the #B2BTrail an additional 1.8 miles. When the project is finished, it will complete 4 miles of continuous trail from Dexter to Ann Arbor!

Construction on this first section started in mid-September with its completion anticipated in mid-November. This project not only includes paving the new pathway, but also moving Skip’s Huron River Canoe Livery to a new location within Delhi Metropark to accommodate the extension of the trail.

The second section of this project will add just under a mile, extending the trail from Zeeb Road to East Delhi Road. Tree work will begin this winter. We hope to celebrate the official opening of this trail segment with partners, Huron-Clinton Metroparks and Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission in the summer of 2021.

Frog Island and South Grove Trail Projects / City of Ypsilanti – Construction on the South Grove Road segment has almost wrapped up with concrete trail, intersection sidewalk ramps and driveway work complete. Only a portion of the restoration work remains to finish this project. On Frog Island, most of the concrete work is complete at the Cross Street end of the trail. Paving will continue with an anticipated project completion date in early November.

Meet the HWPI Team: Mackenzie Wisniewski

Originally from Florida, Mackenzie moved to Michigan in 2017. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband Michael and their dog Oakley. Outside of work, she enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors. She also enjoys gardening, baking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Mackenzie volunteers her free time to Florida Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes as an annual volunteer and board member.

Mackenzie believes that the B2B is an important resource across the Washtenaw County community. She loves that the B2B provides a safe environment to exercise, explore the outdoors, see nature and stay healthy. She is thrilled to join the HWPI team and work with an enthusiastic and collaborative group that is completing the B2B Trail System.

Groundbreaking – Zeeb Road to Delhi Metropark

We are excited to announce the start of construction of the Zeeb Road to Delhi Metropark #B2BTrail segment. Trail partners from the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority, the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission and the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative safely gathered to mark the occasion and to celebrate the trail progress bringing us closer to an Ann Arbor connection.

Coy Vaughn, Director of WCPARC, and Amy McMillan, Director of HCMA, shared some thoughts on the extraordinary partnerships that make this work happen. “This project demonstrates that when people work together who have a common vision and a common goal, anything can happen. This is an inspiration for not just work on the B2B Trail System, but all projects moving forward during these difficult times,” said McMillan.

Construction on the first half of this segment, one mile of trail within the Delhi Metropark, has officially begun and will be complete in late fall. Construction on the second half of this segment, from Zeeb Rd. to the Delhi Metropark, will begin in the spring of 2021.
