Parker Mill Boardwalk Replacement

Project Overview

Trail users can once again enjoy the section of the B2B Trail between Gallup Park and Parker Mill County Park following the completion of a reconstruction project. The aging timber boardwalk east of Gallup Park had reached the end of its service life, with deteriorated decking and structural members creating safety concerns for trail users. The failing boardwalk was removed and replaced with a new paved trail on a revised alignment outside of the wetland area in collaboration with the adjacent All Seasons development. By relocating the trail to higher ground, WCPARC has created a smoother, more durable trail surface while minimizing impacts to the surrounding wetland ecosystem. Additionally, switching from boardwalk to pavement lowered the cost of the replacement while also reducing future costs and maintenance needs.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during the temporary trail closure and detour. The completed improvements will provide a safer, more reliable trail connection for years to come.
